Sinopse

Doctor Who é uma série de ficção científica inglesa produzida pela rede BBC, que começou a ser exibida a partir de 1963 e até os dias atuais continua em franca produção (2008) e é referenciada no Guiness como “a mais longa série de ficção científica do mundo” e que também se transformou num ícone da cultura popular britânica. A série é muito conhecida pelas suas histórias imaginativas, pelos efeitos especiais e foi pioneiro na utilização de música eletrônica. A série já passou por diversas fases, com diferentes elencos. Atualmente, na versão conhecida como 2005, tem no elenco o ator David Tennant interpretando o Doutor. A produção atual tem um formado ligeiramente alterado das demais, sendo que agora cada temporada é construída por 13 episódios de 45 minutos cada, mais um episódio especial de Natal por ano. Cada temporada inclui várias histórias individuais ou de múltiplas partes, apenas ligadas entre si por um enredo secundário que apenas é revelado no fim da temporada. Desde 1963 já foram produzido cerca de 751 episódios, incluindo um filme de 1996 e os três episódios especiais de Natal. No Brasil esta série passou a ser exibida pela TV a cabo People & Arts.
