Sinopse

Bill Henrickson (Bill Paxton) é um polígamo contemporâneo que vive no subúrbio de Salt Lake City no estado de Utah, Estados Unidos, com três esposas, sete filhos e uma avalanche de responsabilidades. Dono de uma promissora cadeia de lojas de artigos para casa, Bill luta para manter o equilíbrio entre as necessidades financeiras e emocionais de suas esposas e ainda manter em segredo seu estilo de vida, uma vez que a poligamia foi proibida pela Igreja Mórmon há mais de um século.

Barb, Nicki e Margene (Jeanne Tripplehorn, Chloë Sevigny e Ginnifer Goodwin) vivem em casas contíguas e compartilham a vida familiar ao mesmo tempo que, convenientemente, tratam de atender suas necessidades individuais.

Tom Hanks e Gary Goetzman, através de sua produtora Playtone, encabeçam a produção executiva desta original e polêmica, mas sobretudo real, história que somente a HBO se atreve a revelar.
